Our approach
From operational complexity to intelligent execution.
Our methodology connects business strategy with practical implementation. Every engagement starts with understanding how work actually happens, then changes it in stages you can see, measure, and reverse.
The BetterWork Operating Framework™
Four stages. One operating model.
Discover
Understand the business, systems, workflows, stakeholders, and operational constraints.
OutputOperational baseline & opportunity map
Activities
- Stakeholder and workflow interviews
- System and data inventory
- Current-state process mapping
- Constraint and risk register
What you decide
Which workflows matter, what success looks like, and what is explicitly out of scope.
Design
Map the future-state workflow, identify automation opportunities, and establish success metrics.
OutputFuture-state blueprint & implementation plan
Activities
- Future-state workflow architecture
- Automation and agent design
- Prioritization by value and feasibility
- Success metrics and acceptance criteria
What you decide
Which opportunities to fund first, and the acceptance criteria for calling the work done.
Implement
Build, integrate, test, and deploy intelligent systems into the existing technology environment.
OutputLive workflows in production
Activities
- Integration and data plumbing
- Agent and workflow build
- Testing, permissions, and error handling
- Team training and staged rollout
What you decide
How fast to roll out, who approves exceptions, and what stays human.
Optimize
Measure results, improve performance, train teams, and expand what works.
OutputMeasured results & expansion roadmap
Activities
- Adoption and reliability monitoring
- Performance review against baseline
- Exception handling and refinement
- Expansion to adjacent processes
What you decide
What to expand, what to retire, and where the next unit of capacity comes from.
Governance & trust
Automation you can audit.
AI systems in an operating business need the same discipline as any other production system: defined access, tested behavior, visible failure, and a person accountable for the outcome.
Human oversight
Agents operate within defined boundaries. Anything consequential (financial commitment, external communication, record changes) is routed to a person with the context to approve it.
Permission management
Automation gets the least access it needs, scoped per workflow, and audited on a schedule. Credentials are managed centrally, never pasted into a flow.
Testing and staged rollout
Every workflow runs against representative cases before production, then goes live in stages with a rollback path and a named owner.
Error handling and observability
Failures are expected, visible, and handled: retries where appropriate, exceptions queued for review, and alerts routed to someone accountable.
Measurement
How we prove it worked.
Baseline before build
We time the current process, count the handoffs, and record error rates before anything changes. Without a baseline, every later claim is an opinion.
Instrument the workflow
Runs, durations, exception rates, and human interventions are logged. You can see what the system did on any given day.
Review against the baseline
Cycle time, manual touchpoints, rework, and capacity recovered are compared to the numbers we started with, on a fixed cadence.
Report honestly
Where a workflow underperforms, we say so and either fix it or retire it. Nothing stays live because it was once a deliverable.
Principles
The rules we work by.
People first, systems second
Automation that removes human judgment from a place it was needed is a liability. We design workflows that keep people where their judgment matters.
Evidence before opinion
Every recommendation traces back to something we observed: a process map, a time study, a system inventory, or a measured baseline.
Own what you run
Every workflow we deploy is documented, monitored, and handed over in a state your team can operate, not a black box only we can explain.
Complexity is a cost
The best automated workflow is usually the simplest one that solves the real problem. We resist adding steps, tools, or systems that earn nothing.
Technology
Built for the tools your business already uses.
- Microsoft 365
- Google Workspace
- Salesforce
- HubSpot
- Slack
- Shopify
- QuickBooks
- Airtable
- Zapier
- Make
- n8n
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Snowflake
- BigQuery
- PostgreSQL
Example integration environments. We work in the systems you already run; these are not claims of official partnership or certification.
Next step
Start with the workflow costing you the most.
A strategy call is a working session on one process: where the hours go, what could change, and what it would take.
